Jordan Ross could play anywhere in the country. According to 247Sports, the four-star wide receiver has 11 power five five offers in total, including Auburn, Michigan State and Notre Dame to name a few.
Instead of suiting up in the Big Ten, playing in the SEC or potentially staying on the West Coast in the Pac-12, Ross announced on Twitter that he intends to play for the Colorado State Rams.
The highly coveted prospect out of Warren High School in Downey, California is the highest rated recruit in CSU’s 2024 class to date. And if he ends up signing with the Green & Gold, with a composite score of .9083, he will be the the highest rated recruit to join the team since four-star quarterback Justin Holland back in 2001.
Watching his highlights on Hudl, Ross has the type of blazing speed where it doesn’t even look like he breaks a sweat while leaving a defensive back in the dust. For an Air Raid offense that loves to take shots over the top, he’s certainly an ideal vertical threat.
What’s great about the ‘Route Reaper’ is that while he is especially dangerous going deep — something defenses will have to respect and account for schematically — Ross also shows that he’s a four-down-type receiver with the way he makes an impact in the screen game. At any point the quarterback can get the ball in his hands quickly and he just may take it all the way to the house or break off a big play.
Ross is dangerous over the middle too. So you can’t just shut him down by doubling him with a safety over the top. Ross is the kind of playmaker that gives an offense options on any down, from any distance.
In his junior season at Warren High School, Ross was unfortunately impacted by a broken collarbone suffered early in the year. However, he still managed to record 25 receptions for 418 yards and six touchdowns in 2022. But when healthy, he definitely looks like a player that can perform at a high level in the FBS.
With Ross now on board, the Rams have 15 public verbals for the 2024 cycle, nine of which are out of the state of California. CSU has had a strong recruiting presence on the West Coast since Jay Norvell was hired, and we’re seeing the benefits that come from their persistent approach.
