Fish fry the Rockies

Sometimes you fry the fish, sometimes the fish fries you.

On Saturday night, the Colorado Rockies were unable to keep their winning streak going to begin the season, dropping one to the Miami Marlins by the score of 7-3.

Starter Tyler Anderson was not as good or efficient as the first two members of the Rockies rotation, surrendering five runs on nine hits. The offense never mounted much of a rally and the bullpen also gave up a few runs in defeat.

The Marlins took an early lead in the second, plating a pair of runs without hitting the ball especially hard against Anderson.

Lewis Brinson doubled just inside the third-base line and Martin Prado managed an infield single on a dribbler down the first-base line. Curtis Granderson lofted a sac fly to left before Anderson bounced back to strike out Chad Wallach.

But he was unable to put away his counterpart, allowing a single up the middle to Lopez which really hurt when Miguel Rojas pulled a double to right.

But the Rockies struck right back, beginning with a single through the right side off the bat of Garrett Hampson, making his first start of the season. Chris Iannetta was hit by a pitch and a balk advanced both runners. Anderson was unable to help the cause, popping up on the infield but Charlie Blackmon came through with an infield single to score a run and David Dahl tied it with a sac fly to left.

The lead didn’t last long and Anderson was hit much harder by the Marlins in the fourth. A single for Prado set up Wallach for a ground-rule double and Rojas for a more traditional double. Even former Rockies farmhand Rosell Herrera got in on the act, singling to left to make it 5-2 before Anderson could finally escape the frame,

Miami added a pair of runs in the seventh against DJ Johnson and the Rockies offense was never able to make a real comeback attempt.
