The Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears will be without some of their most talented players today in the Windy City when the two teams take one another on.
For the Broncos, their inactive players are headlined by wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who the coaching staff decided to sit. Sanders has battled a shoulder injury, an ankle sprain and, this week, a finger injury. It was the right thing to do for Sanders’ long-term health considering how valuable he is to the Broncos offense.
With him out, Cody Latimer will start in his place. Latimer received 26 snaps with five targets in last week’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, including three receptions for 30 yards.
Also inactive for the Broncos this week are:
Quarterback Peyton Manning and outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware. Those two superstars’ absence isn’t a surprise to Broncos fans, though, neither traveled with the team. Manning is dealing with a litany of injuries and Ware has tweaked his back for a second time this season.
Defensive back Lorenzo Doss, tight end Richard Gordon, defensive lineman Vance Walker and newly signed offensive lineman Sam Brenner are the rest of the team’s inactives.
