Colton kicks off the show with ‘The Breakdown’ by talking about some huge news regarding the Seattle Seawolves and Dallas Jackals, the latest Raptors on the move, and all of the rugby you can watch this weekend (0:00-11:40). After ‘The Breakdown’, Colton talks to former international sevens player, current coach, owner and operator of MacDowell Rugby, and host of Rugby Hive Robin MacDowell about his perseverance, his coaching career, and the things that he is most proud of (11:41-1:33:37). After the conversation, Colton assigns some interesting ‘Required Reading’ and closes the show with ‘The Loop’ (1:33::38-1:38:10).
Robin MacDowell is an athlete-centred coach who has been coaching sports at all levels for over 27 years. As a former international player for Rugby Canada, he has a strong understanding of what it takes to get to the next level, and what it takes to help elite athletes achieve success; his true passion lies with helping athletes achieve their goals at every level of the game from grassroots to high performance. Robin was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, then moved to Europe at 19 years old to pursue a professional rugby career in both France and Italy, and has played and coached the world over. Robin is passionate about growing the game at every level across North America. He’s also got vast experience coaching at the international level, most specifically with the Mexican Women’s National Sevens. He worked with the team through the 2018 Rugby World Cup 7s in San Francisco and Olympic qualification and appearance. Robin’s also worked with the Canadian Men’s and Women’s 7s pathway programs for the past 6 years.
