Podcovers Rugby 33

Colton begins the show with “The Breakdown” presented by O’Neills by talking about the American Raptors’ 2-0 start, the latest MLR news, and All of the Rugby You Can Watch this weekend presented by Wintergreen (0:00-9:25). Following “The Breakdown”, Colton talks with Buffalo Bills legend Steve Tasker about the one season he played rugby at Northwestern, how that made him better at special teams in the NFL, and if he believes that we will start to see more rugby attacking concepts utilized in football. (9:26-27:45). After the interview presented by GuardLab, Colton tackles the Stat of the Week presented by Catapult, assigns some “Required Reading”, and closes the show with “The Loop” presented by First Bank (27:46-30:38).

Steve Tasker is known for being one of the greatest special teams players in the history of the National Football League. During his time with the Buffalo Bills, he earned seven first-team All-Pro selections, made seven Pro Bowls, and is the only special teams player in history to earn Pro Bowl MVP. He was a staple of the Bills teams that went to four straight Super Bowls. He’s also a rugby player. Tasker played one season of rugby at Northwestern University before being drafted to the Houston Oilers, and he attributes some of what he learned on the rugby pitch to his stellar career in the NFL.
