Colton Strickler Avatar
December 3, 2021

Colton starts the show with “The Breakdown” presented by O’Neills by talking about some Raptors on the move to Major League Rugby teams for the 2022 season, some interesting moves in the rugby sevens space, and all of the rugby you can watch this weekend (0:00-16:01). After “The Breakdown”, Colton talks with American Raptors lock Mikey Grandy about playing football at the University of Texas, practicing martial arts, and how his past sports experiences have made his transition to rugby easier (16:03-39:06). Following the interview with Mikey, Colton assigns some “Required Reading” and closes the show with “The Loop” (36:48-39:06).

Mikey Grandy played on the offensive line at the College of San Mateo before transferring to the University of Texas to continue his college football career. After a concussion forced him into medical retirement, Grandy took a few years off of sports and finished his degree. He came out to visit his friend and former teammate – Colorado XO and American Raptors scrum-half Line Latu – he inquired with American Raptors general manager Peter Pasque about the opportunity to play with the team. As a former Division-I athlete, Grandy checked all of the boxes and joined the club at the end of May. He competed with the Colorado XOs at the 2021 RugbyTown Sevens and joined the American Raptors on their Uruguay tour in November.
