  • My Guess is Americans playing right handed comes from baseball. Almost every kid’s first organised sport is baseball and right handers are taught to grip the bat right hand over left. Then when you get to hockey that same grip seems natural. Same with lacrosse although that’s a sport where you have to work on both left and right hand grips if you want to play beyond high school.
