Since the Broncos and Patriots punched their tickets to the AFC Championship game, there’s been a smattering of trash-talk as well as your usual dose of sandbagging, but, on Friday afternoon, Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe cut straight to the point.
“I hate everything about them,” he said of the Broncos upcoming opponent. “They’re always in my way. They’re always in my way to get what I want so it’s naturally going to create hate.”
Where there is hate, there is rivalry.
“I would say that it is a pretty good rivalry at this point as much as we’ve played and the back-and-forth game, stuff like that,” Wolfe explained. “I think it has created a rivalry.”
But, like any good warrior, Wolfe has respect for his formidable enemy.
“I have a ton of respect for the whole organization,” said Wolfe. “They have great players. Tom Brady is a great player. Bill Belichick is a great coach. They have a great staff over there. I have a ton of respect for them.”
Many Broncos fans can, surely, relate to Derek Wolfe and his hate for the Patriots, it’s what makes this Sunday’s matchup so special. It’s the hated Patriots, it’s the Golden Boy, Tom Brady, it’s the Dark Lord, Bill Belichick, who would want it any other way?
