Denver Nuggets waive guard Matt Janning - who announced he's signing in Israel

Teams across the NBA have until Oct. 24 to waive non-guaranteed contracts without incurring pro-rated salary cap hits, and have an Oct. 26 deadline to set their opening night rosters, so over the next week and a half, there will be a lot of cuts happening across the league.

The Nuggets roster, which currently sits at 18 players – with 15 guaranteed deals, will need to be trimmed to 15 before the Oct. 26th deadline.

The first move happened this morning when Nuggets training camp invite Matt Janning announced that he’s leaving the team to play abroad in Jerusalem, Israel with Hapoel Jerusalem Basketball Club next season. And the Nuggets officially announced they have waived Janning, per a press release.

Janning, 27, enjoyed a successful career overseas since he went undrafted in 2010, playing in Italy, Croatia, and Turkey, before joining Denver’s 2015 Summer League team.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard averaged 1.0 point and 0.5 assists in two preseason games with Denver.
