Denver media, Shane Ray wishes you would stop asking him stupid questions

Okay, so he didn’t actually say that but it sure seems like he feels that way. Honestly, Shane Ray is too respectful and well spoken to ever actually say something like that but he should!

After the millionth immature marijuana question asked by a group of media who apparently wasn’t looking for an original story, I asked him if he was tired of answering these questions. He had just stepped down from the podium after his first press conference and had answered another one from the small press circle assembled off to the side. He looked at me and definitively said “Yes” and then explained how that is not the kind of person that he is.

I mean, it was a zoo. We had Drew Soicher unprofessionally screaming (literally) that the Broncos just drafted a guy who was “BUSTED FOR POT” into TV camera’s over and over again throughout that weekend, even calling him “dumb” at times. I even jumped in on the action and asked him if his off-field transgression was a blessing in disguise. Shame on me.

Fast forward a week later and Shane Ray is still answering these questions from Denver’s finest media members. After he was asked to talk about how the internet is making fun of him (seriously), he was then asked if he has sought advice from Von Miller on how to stay out of trouble off the field.

I’m sorry, but for a kid that received a misdemeanor ticket for having a joint in his car, this is just too much. Especially considering that he passed all combine drug tests and wasn’t even impaired.

Ray told the media, “I haven’t really talked to him (Von Miller) about that but for me personally, it’s really not hard for me to stay out of trouble.” This is the part where Shane Ray was pretty much asking you dimwits to stop treating him like the trouble making criminal that he’s not.

He added, “For me, the incident that I had, I moved past that. It’s just something that happened and it is not something that’s going to resurface for me at all.” And that was the part where he was telling you to stop asking him about it because it was nothing and it’s over and he’s doesn’t have to “try” to stay out of trouble.

The faster that Shane Ray can get on the football field and sack someone the better off he will be. That is, unfortunately, the only way that these questions are going to stop. Until then, Shane will continue to answer these questions with the accountability and class that he has displayed up to this point.
