Mike Bobo added to his future running back depth Saturday afternoon with a commit from Marcus McElroy. The 6-1, 200-pounder from Mullen High School in Denver had a monstrous senior year with 153 carries for 1,175 yards and 17 touchdowns.
His 7.7 yards per average had to be a huge selling point for Bobo, who said repeatedly this season that he wants his running backs to make big plays.
Where McElroy fits will be interesting, as Colorado State retains their entire trio of backs. Dalyn Dawkins will be a redshirt senior, Izzy Matthews will be a junior and Marvin Kinsey will be a sophomore.
However, all three have seen significant playing time and got better as the season progressed.
Scout.com lists McElroy as a three-star recruit. He also held offers from Kansas State, Kansas, Purdue, Army, Colorado, as well as Mountain West schools Hawaii and Air Force.
