For a fan of the Denver Broncos, Deflategate has to at least be amusing, to some, energizing. The New England Patriots, long the darling of the NFL and long a thorn in the side of the Broncos, are watching as their reputation crumbles.
Many already thought of the Patriots as cheaters following Spygate, now it seems Tom Brady’s personal reputation has been tarnished as well.
Brady was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season Monday, while the Patriots organization was fined $1 million and lost their first and third round draft picks in 2016. Brady will fight the suspension as Roger Goodell acted swiftly and with a heavy hand in this case. Though, the punishment seems to fit the crime from here.
Go slightly west, and the men in Las Vegas think enough of the ruling for it to move Super Bowl 50 odds.
Super Bowl 50 odds before Deflategate ruling:
New England Patiots: 7-1
Denver Broncos: 12-1
Super Bowl 50 odds post-Deflategate ruling:
Denver Broncos: 8-1
New England Patriots: 12-1
These odds are per William Hill, which said Denver had the biggest jump up in the odds following the Brady suspension news.
