On Monday, the Denver Broncos signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Dekoda Watson. The former seventh-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010 from Florida State is entering his seventh season.
Watson appeared in 73 career regular season games with 7 starts in his time spent in Tampa Bay (2010-2013), Jacksonville/Dallas (2014), and New England (2015). Watson appeared in both of the Patriots postseason contests last season including the AFC Championship game in Denver.
His best season came with the Buccaneers in 2013 where he produced 42 tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick.
Watson mainly played OLB in Tampa’s 4-3 defense but can feature as an edge rusher and has also played WIL and SAM which he will likely be asked to do in Wade Phillips’ 3-4.
