Yes, the Denver Broncos selected nine total players during the 2015 NFL Draft, but they added a total of 18 players to the team this weekend.
Of course, defensive end/outside linebacker Shane Ray was the first to be selected, at No. 23 overall in the first round. He heads to the Mile High City with the “quickest first step in football.” Then it was offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo from the Colorado State Rams in the second round, followed by tight end Jeff Heuerman in the third, center Max Garcia in the fourth and so on. But following three days of drafting, Denver wasn’t done.
The Broncos went out and inked nine college free agents post-draft, including four offensive linemen, two wide receivers, a defensive lineman, nose tackle and linebacker.
Here’s a list of their college free agent signings:
Name Position School
Zaire Anderson | LB | Nebraska |
Kalon Davis | OL | Clemson |
Dillon Day | OL | Mississippi St. |
Matt Miller | WR | Boise St. |
Chuka Ndulue | NT | Oklahoma |
Connor Rains | OL | Wyoming |
Kyle Roberts | OL | Nevada |
Jordan Taylor | WR | Rice |
Josh Watson | DL | Clemson |
Clearly, offensive line was still a need even after the Broncos took Sambrailo and the center Garcia in the Draft. Linebacker wasn’t a position which was selected despite it being a need, which is where Zaire Anderson comes in. And Denver clearly isn’t completely sure Sylvester Williams can play nose tackle, signing Chuka Ndulue from Oklahoma.
