It was reported earlier today that the Broncos had prior trade discussions this season with the Browns for a Thomas swap, but Cleveland wanted both a first round pick and Shaquil Barrett.
Denver tried to get a deal done at the last moment to acquire the former number one overall pick. In the proposed deal, Denver would’ve sent a first and second round pick in 2016 to Cleveland in exchange for Thomas and a 2016 fourth round draft pick. Ultimately it was the asking price once again that didn’t get the deal done.

This move would’ve come just days after Broncos coach Gary Kubiak announced that rookie tackle Ty Sambrailo would be undergoing surgery on his left shoulder and would miss the remainder of the 2015 season.
Thomas is ranked by Pro football focus as the second best overall tackle in the NFL and the best pass protecting tackle in the league.
The Broncos will likely stick with Ryan Harris and Tyler Polumbus at left tackle for the remainder of the 2015 season.
