The Denver Broncos have reached an agreement with wide receiver Jordan Norwood to keep him in Denver on a one-year deal.
Norwood caught 22 passes for the Broncos last season in a slot receiver role, where he split time with Bennie Fowler and Bubba Caldwell. After going undrafted out of Penn State in the 2009 NFL Draft, Norwood signed with the Cleveland Browns. He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing in Denver in 2014.
His most notable moment with the Broncos came in the Super Bowl when he set a record for the longest punt return in Super Bowl history (61 yards) setting up the Broncos for a Field Goal to put them up 13-7 in the second quarter.
The signing comes one day after head coach Gary Kubiak had this to say on the slot man.
“ I talked to Jordan yesterday. I know he had some options out there. I can’t speak for those options, but we’d love to have Jordan back,” he told. “I talked to him. I know John is talking to his agent. We’ll see what happens. I think he played really well for us at the end of the year. We went through a period there—I think four or five weeks where he didn’t suit—we had some special-teams issues going on with our team. When Jordan was given an opportunity, I thought he did a really good job.”
Norwood will likely play a similar role for the Broncos in 2016 beside Bennie Fowler and Cody Latimer on top of his punt and kick return duties.
