Cut days are the worst for players on the bubble in the NFL.
On Monday, 10 players were either waived or released, with one more – Jeff Heuerman – being plaed on the Injured Reserve.
Those 10 players are as follows:
Tevrin Brandon, Andre Davis, Joe Don Dunca, Zac Dysert, Spencer Lanning, Ross Madison, Jake Murphy, Jeremy Stewart, Chase Vaughn and Reggie Walker.
Of the biggest surprises is Zac Dysert, who was drafted by the Broncos in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He’s been with the team since, functioning as the No. 3 quarterback, but it seems new seventh-round draft pick Trevor Siemian will take over that role if the team keeps three QBs.
Jeremy Stewart is a bit of a surprise too, as a veteran running back who was picked up mid-way through last season who saw only six carries for 22 yards last year.
Spencer Lanning was signed two weeks ago as a punter to challenge incumbent Britton Colquitt, but Colquitt will keep his job.
And Chase Vaughn was a heartwarming story out of Colorado State-Pueblo, a DII school, but with so many talented pass-rushers, he couldn’t find a way to stay on the roster.
The Broncos are now at 79 players and must be down to 75 by 2 pm Tuesday. We’ll keep you updated as any other players are released.
