Denver’s defense is so stacked, the void of Derek Wolfe was lost in the mix.
But, Wolfe has returned from his four-game PED suspension and is playing phenomenally, especially in the win 29-10 win over the Green Bay Packers Sunday night.
On Wednesday, Wolfe was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his team-leading seven tackles, which was also a career-high, one of which was a tackle for a loss.
Want some visual evidence of what Wolfe was able to do on Sunday? Check out these three plays which @VeteranScout put together and shared on Twitter.
In the first, Wolfe knifes inside and through a block to tackle Eddie Lacy at the line of scrimmage. It’s a similar movement on the second play, diving down, which disrupts the hole James Starks is supposed to run through, and Brandon Marshall tackles him with ease. On the final play, Wolfe is going right and makes a phenomenal stretch/dive back to the left to take Starks down.

Denver’s defense has been all about swarming ball-carriers as well as individuals making superb open-field tackles. Wolfe was all over the field Sunday night, just another in a long line of Broncos defenders who have impressed all season long.
The NFL’s No. 1 defense in terms of both points (112) and yards (1,828) allowed now has three AFC Defensive Players of the Week in Aqib Talib (Wk. 1), T.J. Ward (Wk. 4) and Wolfe. If the way they’re playing is any indication, they’ll have a few more before the season is through.
