Last night, Carolina Panthers first-team All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman said he’s not worried about Demaryius Thomas, asking, “Why should I be?”
Today, we asked Thomas that same question, why should Josh Norman be worried about him?
Thomas smiled, looked up and said simply, “Find out Sunday.”
Thomas has never been much for talking, or talking much at all for that matter, but he did admit he’s seen other receivers of his stature take advantage of the Panthers secondary.
“I have seen that, I watched Julio [Jones],” he said of his film study. “I watched Odell [Beckham Jr.], too, he had one big play he should have made and made his game bigger. It’s just about getting the quarterback time because they put up a lot of pressure, and making good decisions because they get a lot of turnovers.”
Another thing he’s certainly seen on film is Norman doing the same sort of trash talking that he does in the media on the field. Thomas embraces that.
“I don’t tune it out, I hear it, but it just helps me play better,” he explained. “I just play, I don’t talk back, I let my play do the talking.”
The most notable example of Norman’s antics lies in his matchup with Beckham Jr. in which the two were at each other’s throats the entire game, Norman won the mind matchup though, causing Beckham to lose his cool.
“I think they first play of the game they were going at each others head,” Thomas said of the clash. “For what reason I don’t know why.”
Demaryius assured media, though, that he won’t fall victim to those games.
“Nobody can get in my head that easily.”
