Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado is a walking anomaly. He does so many amazing things with the glove, or sometimes just with the bare hand, that being surprised and amazed by what he accomplishes on the baseball diamond gets harder as time goes on.
And yet, somehow, he does keep surprising and amazing us.
In the first game of a three-game set in St. Louis that the Rockies went on to be swept in, Antonio Senzatela las laboring through a first inning it looked like he might not make it out of. And perhaps he wouldn’t have if not for the heroics of his man at the hot corner.
No, the play didn’t ultimately save the game or the series, but it probably saved about four innings of bullpen work and helped bail a young pitcher out of what could have been a far more devastating outing. Also, it was just — in a vacuum — objectively awesome:

Up, up, and away.
Arenado received the most recent National League Player of the Week award, largely by hitting five home runs in the span of about 12 minutes but he never goes long without reminding you what an incredible impact he can make even if he never picked up a bat.
