According to Sportando.com’s E. Carchia, Melvin Hunt has the full support of Danilo Gallinari as potential head coach of the Denver Nuggets. In a recent interview with Carchia, Gallinari was quoted saying:

“Our goal next season will be to make the playoffs. I hope Melvin Hunt will be our coach next season. He knows basketball very well, also European basketball, something that can make the difference in the NBA. He is a very positive person and he is great in motivating the players. I think he has the qualities to succeed as head coach.”

This is not the first time Gallinari has publicly expressed his approval of Hunt and after seeing the way he played under Denver’s most recent interim head coach it’s not hard to understand why. Gallinari average nearly 20 points per game under Hunt, including two 40-plus point games in the last two weeks of the season alone.

With fans fully supporting Hunt as possible head coach and players echoing this sentiment, the Nuggets would certainly be making a bold move by bestowing the honor of team general upon another candidate, especially considering their lack of communication with those on the market. However, given the way the Nuggets have gone about their head coaching “search,” nothing should really come as a surprise at this point.
