BOULDER – For the second straight night, the Colorado Buffaloes have gotten a verbal from an extremely talented player from DeSoto, TX. This time, wide receiver KD Nixon, a four-star prospect also from DeSoto High School like Xavier Newman, who committed last night, announced he’s coming to Boulder.

Nixon is a 5-foot-8, 182-pound burner recruited by co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Darrin Chiaverini. He had previously been committed to Tennessee and was also recruited by Arizona State, Baylor, California, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Houston, Kansas, Louisville, Missouri, North Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Rice, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas State, Texas Tech and Tulsa.
Some notes from his ESPN Scouting report:
Nixon is diminutive in stature, but he’s not small he’s just short. Has some functional strength and a sturdy build. He possesses excellent lateral quickness, loose hips and is smooth in all of his movement skills. Looks and moves like a running back. Speed is very strong
If Nixon were bigger he would likely be considered a top tier national prospect. His stature is limiting and may give cause for concern for some. he is highly productive and very confident as a player. We like his instincts and feel for the game. Good player.
Nixon is verbal commitment No. 2o for the Buffs. Chiaverini continues to prove his prowess as a recruiter as Nixon is the third four-star commit out of Texas, joining Laviska Shenault and Jaylon Jackson.
