It’s not the Buffs normal recruiting grounds, but a connection between Colorado’s cornerbacks coach, Charles Clark, and the head coach of Sequoyah High School, allowed the Buffs to go into Woodstock, Georgia, and pick up a commitment from Derrion Rakestraw, as he announced on twitter Thursday afternoon.

Rakestraw, a 6-foot-3, 173 pounder, is currently rated a two-star athlete on Rivals.com. He plays wide receiver and cornerback for his high school team, but likely projects to start out at receiver in college.
His hudl highlights can be seen here.
His strength from the wide receiver position certainly seem to be his ball skills, showing the ability to high point the ball and make adjustments easily. Despite his low ranking on the recruiting sites, the Buffs must have been very high on the young athlete, because with only a few open spots in the 2016 class, all indications were that the Buffs would be very choosey in this class.
Here is some of the twitter reaction to Rakestraw’s commitment.
