We knew something was up when linebacker, Kenneth Olugbode, was tweeting in the middle of the second half during Saturday night’s loss to Oregon:

But we didn’t know it was this bad, head coach Mike MacIntyre told the media during his Tuesday press conference that Olugbode injured his leg, and actually kept playing, but the swelling became so immense that the junior backer was forced to be taken to the hospital where he was cut open to drain the swelling.

The injury will keep Olugbode out for four to six weeks.

This means the Buffs will be without both of their starting linebackers on Saturday against Arizona State, as they don’t expect to have Addison Gillam back yet either.

Ryan Severson, a 5-foot-10, 205 pound junior will step in for Olugbode alongside Rick Gamboa on Saturday. True freshman, NJ Falo could also see more playing time in the absence of “KO.”

Other Injury notes:

-MacIntyre said the Buffs are preparing to be without their left tackle, Sam Kronshage, in Tempe. Kronshage suffered a concussion in the loss to Oregon, and is still going through the protocol to find out whether he will be available this week. Kronshage was the replacement for original starter at the position, Jeromy irwin, who is out for the season with a torn ACL.

If Kronshage cannot go, expect to see Stephane Nembot step in at LT, with redshirt freshman John Lisella stepping in at right tackle.

-While he is still unsure if they will get Michael Adkins back this week, MacIntyre said Patrick Carr will be back in the rotation at running back against Arizona State.
