While it seems like the offseason is upon us, Joe Parker has been hard at work scheduling future opponents while Colorado State Football is busy preparing during spring football.

Today, the school announced CSU will play a home-and-home against Toledo in 2019 and then in 2021. The 2019 game will be in Fort Collins, at the on-campus stadium, while 2021 will be played in Toledo’s Glass Bowl.

The University of Toledo Rockets play their games in the Mid-American Football Conference and went 10-2 last season. Toledo and CSU have met twice previously, back in the early 70s. In 1970 Toledo won at home 24-14 while Colorado State was victorious (21-14) in 1973 at Hughes Stadium.

This home-and-home series news comes 11 days after the school announced Colorado State will face the University of Arkansas in a two-sport combo series which will have the football team playing in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2019.

So, the football team’s non-conference schedule for 2019 is nearly filled. The Rams play Arkansas, the Colorado Buffaloes and Toledo, with a one-game void remaining.

“We’re excited to secure a home-and-home series with Toledo,” said CSU head coach Mike Bobo. “It’s a program that has been a consistent winner in a tough Mid-American Conference, and played in a bowl game five of the last six seasons. They will present a significant challenge for our football team.”

Currently, Bobo has his team practicing and preparing during their annual 15 spring practices. Last Saturday, the offense — led by Faton Bauta’s three passing TDs and Bryce Peters’ three rushing scores — beat up on the defense in the team’s second scrimmage of the spring. It was a role reversal from the first scrimmage, where Bobo was more pleased with his defense’s performance than the offense.

Bobo has his team focused on winning a Mountain West championship this year, as tight end Nolan Peralta said last week in an exclusive interview.

It all leads up to the Green and Gold Game, which kicks off this Saturday at 1 p.m. MT at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium. The game is open and free to the public with activities happening before kickoff, so be there early!
