Could a front office role with the Nuggets be in WNBA star Sue Bird's future?

Fresh off her third WNBA championship, could WNBA star Sue Bird be plotting her next career move?

Bird attended Nuggets’ practice Friday morning and met with the Nuggets front office and head coach Michael Malone afterward. Per a team official, Denver could hire the 11-time WNBA All-Star to a front office role at a future date. If the Nuggets went that direction, Bird would have to be hired as an intern since her playing career is still ongoing.

Retirement rumors have swirled around Bird as of late. Why? Because there’s not much left for the 38-year-old and 16-year veteran to accomplish. In a recent interview with GQ, Bird was asked how “sick” she was of being asked about retirement.

“I think it got tiring two years ago,” said Bird. “Now, I’m numb to it, so I just kind of ignore it.”

Bird averaged 10.1 points per game for the Seattle Storm last season, who finished first in the Western Conference. She’s a four-time Olympic Gold Medalist, member of the WNBA All-Decade Team and in 2011 was voted as one of the top-15 WNBA players of all time.
