Colorado State University’s new stadium is a die-hard fan's dream

2017, it seems so far away. But in just over two years from now, the Colorado State Rams will open their new, on-campus stadium for fans all across the front range.

Colorado State University is being proactive by informing season ticket holders about their many new options and how they can earn them. In 2009, CSU initiated the Ram Points plan which tracks how involved a ticket holder is with the football team. For instance, season ticket holders get ten points per year, per sport they have purchased since the year 2000. Alumni get five points, athletics letter winners get five points, and contributors to athletic scholarships get four points per $100 and so on.

What do these points buy you? A better seat. The more Ram Points you collect before 2017 the better your seat will be when they reseat current season ticket holders. This is only pertinent if you like to sit in a normal bleacher chair and be part of the crowd. If you are more of an introvert or just don’t like to have your drink spilled all over by every passerby, the Rams have you covered with their new box options.

If you are the kind of guy or gal that needs to be as close to the action as possible, CSU has built the perfect seat for you. They have created a sideline lever box just above and behind where the players stand. You can kick your feet up and watch the game in this new patio-style premium seat.

If you are the type that needs two TVs, padded seats indoors and out and climate control then you need to get your hands on one of CSU’s suites. If you are in-between, CSU offers you the choice of indoor and outdoor club seats with many amenities to take advantage of. These new boxes look and sound great.

Colorado State’s first on-campus stadium since the 1960s didn’t just improve the box seats, they improved just about everything. There will be more bathrooms (especially for women), more covered areas to escape from the elements, more concessions stands and you are just going to have to wait and see how great the field is going to look.

Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium has been the home of CSU football since 1966. Fans will be sad to see Hughes go but the new field is definitely an upgrade and a smart move into the 21st century.
