It was a successful weekend for the Colorado State staff.
After recently finding reinforcements for ‘The Mob’ and locking down three verbal commitments for the offensive line, the Rams have stayed hot on the recruiting trail, this time with multiple pledges for the defensive line.
The first commitment of the weekend came Sunday morning from Trajon Townsend, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound defensive tackle out of Lawndale High School in Inglewood, California.
Although Townsend does not have a profile on 247Sports or On3, his Twitter page indicates that he’s also received an offer from San Diego State. It’s unclear if he has other offers outside of that.
In addition to football, Townsend also throws shot put and discus for Lawndale HS. He set a personal record in both events against Culver City this past April, finishing with 41’ 1” in the former and an 86′ 2.25” in the latter. He does not, however, have any football stats available online. He does not appear to be on Hudl either.
Along with Townsend, Ed’Mari Binion of Millikan High School (California) committed over the weekend and was congratulated by his football program on Twitter for it Monday evening. Binion later posted from his personal account to confirm the news as well.
A 6-foot-6, 250-pound edge rusher, Binion chose CSU over offers from Dartmouth, Montana State, Nevada, Sacramento State, UNLV and Washington.
According to MaxPreps, Binion played in just one game in 2022 — though he did make the most of it, recording a tackle for loss and recovering a fumble in the outing.
Prior to coming over to Millikan HS, Binion played basketball for a pair of schools in Rochester, New York over the last couple of seasons. He is certainly raw as a football prospect but fits the desired athletic profile the staff emphasizes on the recruiting trail.
