Earlier Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com reported that the Colorado Rockies traded Corey Dickerson to the Tampa Bay Rays for multiple pitchers. Joel Sherman of The New York Post later confirmed that Dickerson was headed to Tampa for Jake McGee and prospects.

After the Rockies signed Gerardo Parra to a three-year deal, trade speculation about the Rockies’ remaining outfielders, Carlos Gonzalez, Charlie Blackmon and Dickerson ramped up. Much of the speculation surrounded Gonzalez, but earlier this week, there were multiple reports that the Rockies had been engaged in serious talks with the Rays surrounding pitching and Rockies outfielders.

Since the Parra signing, Rockies fans had been worried about the team entering the season with four starting caliber left-handed hitting outfielders. Now, with this move, the Rockies have made it clear that this was not going to happen.

In three seasons with the Rockies, Dickerson hit .299 with 39 HR and 124 RBIs while playing average defense. In six seasons with the Rays, McGee went 21-11 with a 2.77 ERA in 259.2 relief innings. At the outset, it seems that McGee immediately becomes a candidate to be traded at the 2016 trade deadline. He is set to earn $4.8 million this year, the last year of his contract.

1:51 PM: Ken Rosenthal reports that both the Rays and Rockies will receive a minor-league pitcher:

2:39 PM: Rosenthal reports that the prospect the Rockies will receive is, “not considered one of the Rays’ top 10 prospects.”

4:17 PM: Jon Heyman reports that German Marquez will be sent to the Rockies with McGee:

In four years at the low levels of the Rays’ organization, Marquez has posted a 14-27 record with a 3.88 ERA as a starter. According to mlb.com, Marquez is ranked at number 25 in the Rays’ top 30 prospects.

5:58 PM: Ken Rosenthal reports the Rockies have sent Kevin Padlo along with Dickerson to Tampa. Rosenthal also says that the trade is complete.

Padlo was a fifth-round pick of the Rockies in 2014, he’s from Murrieta Valley High School in Murrieta, CA. The highest level the young third basemen has played at is Single-A. In 2015, he split time between Low-A Boise and Single-A Ashville. He OPS’ed .819 this past year and MILB.com named him as one of the Rockies organizational all-stars.
