Flesch-Law-Recap-April 5, Chase Field, Phoenix, AZ, Game 2:

GAME RUNDOWN

Chad Bettis gave up two early home runs to Paul Goldschmidt and Jean Segura.

The Rockies entered the 4th inning down 2-0, but that deficit would not last long.

Trevor Story was at it again, crushing a solo shot, adding to his impressive start to his young career.

Nick Hundley helped cushion the lead with a three-run blast, his first of the season.

DJ LeMahieu capped off the big inning with a two-run homer, giving the Rockies a 6-2 lead.

Bettis pitched into the 6th inning, but after allowing the first two baserunners to reach and surrendering a third run, he was replaced by Cristian Bergman.

Bergman gave up a triple to Jean Segura that scored two runs, shortening the Rockies lead to one.

Bergman returned after the 7th inning stretch, running into his first real jam of the season. He was knocked around and after giving up a run and loading the bases, he was replaced by Jason Gurka who immediately gave up five runs (three charged to Bergman).

PLAY OF THE GAME

Paul Goldschmidt’s bases clearing triple in the 7th turned the game into a blowout, giving the Diamondbacks an 11-6 lead. The Rockies were unable to respond in the remainder of the game.
