DENVER — The Colorado Rockies have officially begun roster expansion season with the call up of catching prospect Tom Murphy. As we detailed this morning, Murphy was the slam dunk choice to join the roster first because he is already on the 40-man roster and has already seen some limited time at the MLB level.

In 11 games at the tail end of 2015, Murphy posted a slash line of .257/.333/.543 with 3 HR and 9 RBI. Overall in Triple-A for the Albuquerque Isotopes in 2016, Murphy has slashed .331/.366/.656 with 19 HR and 59 RBI.

It remains to be seen how much playing time Murphy will get behind the plate with Nick Hundley and Tony Wolters still around.

Stay tuned to BSN Denver for all further roster expansion moves.
