Colorado Rockies make pair of roster moves to bolster bullpen

In the midst of a five game losing streak and a series that has been heavily reliant on the bullpen, the Rockies have made a couple of changes to their roster.

Hawkins is headed to the DL with a biceps injury and the Rockies are bringing back Oberg who they just sent down to re-activate Jorge De La Rosa on Monday.

Rosario started the 2015 season with a new role, and his playing time has been limited. “Our hands were tied on this one, it has nothing to do with Wilin’s performance” Weiss said. “We really didn’t have any other choice with Arenado and Dickerson being banged up and needing an extra arm in the bullpen, it was really the only possible move we could make.”

Weiss also said that Rosario will primarily play first base while he is in the minors.

Axford re-joins the club after his family leave, tending to his son Jameson. Weiss said that he hopes he doesn’t have to throw Axford to the fire after missing time, but the way the bullpen is, it’s tough to ease anybody in.
