DENVER – Gerardo Parra was perhaps the most despised player on the roster among the home faithful for the Colorado Rockies in 2017. Signed to a decent sized contract, he was a shell of himself, battling through injury and failing to reach double-digits in the walk department.
But Parra has always been more than that. This is why we at BSN Denver highlighted him as a candidate for a bounce back year, and Parra has backed that up by getting several key RBI in 2017, placing him fourth on the team in that category.
His three-run shot was arguably the biggest single swing of the bat “swinging” the series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Parra has also been clutch with the glove and while his overall stats are unlikely to blow anybody away, he has done it when it counts for a team that is in first place largely by winning the game inches. Overall, Parra is hitting .312 with six home runs, 27 RBI, and 21 runs scored. His wRC+ has come all the way up to 97.
Also, it’s always nice when you can throw a little spice on a three-run jack.
