Phoenix, Arizona – The Colorado Rockies got the pitching, they got the hitting too, and that’s why they walked away from Chase Field with a road win. Colorado pieced together a full effort in their 9-0 win.

Tyler Chatwood threw six-and-a-third scoreless innings, allowing only five hits. He did walk three but struck out four. Chatwood, who made his fifth start of the year tonight has his ERA down to 2.73.

Even though the Rockies got the rare shutout they could’ve spotted the Diamondbacks a few as the Rockies offense was alive. Started by a pair of solo home runs in the fourth by Ryan Raburn and Nick Hundley Colorado never looked back.

Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado would each knock home runs in the fifth for the Rockies. Story’s a two-run shot tied the MLB record for most home runs in the month of April by a rookie. Story’s shot also set the pace atop the NL with his fifth inning long ball being the tenth of the year. However, he was soon tied atop the lead as Arenado’s bomb would tally the tenth of his season as well.

The club would get more insurance runs late. In the eighth back-to-back run scoring doubles by Gerardo Parra and Nick Hundley tailed them three then in the ninth a small hit parade got them one more as the Rockies got much more than they needed Friday.

Gonzalez Germen, Justin Miller and Scott Oberg finished the last two-and-two-thirds innings of scoreless ball for Colorado.
