Ahead of a ten game road trip the Colorado Rockies have activated former all-star and starting center fielder Charlie Blackmon. The Rockies leadoff hitter has been sidelined for just over two weeks with a turf toe.

Blackmon, who has a had a rough first week to the season had been battling turf toe in his left foot. In eight games Blackmon hit .185 with three extra-base hits, three runs batted in and one stolen base. He took a short rehab assignment at High-A Modesto, playing two games and going one-for-eight at the plate. The Rockies centerfielder had a fantastic 2015 where he batted .287, hit 17 home runs, drove in 58 and stole 43 bases.

Blackmon will take the roster spot of Brandon Barnes who has been optioned to Triple-A. In 17 games this season Barnes has slashed .194/.242/.323 while knocking in four. He has played for the Rockies in three different seasons totaling 255 games. Barnes also spent a portion of last year in Triple-A.
