In a move to add more organizational depth, the Colorado Rockies have traded for minor leaguer, Cody Decker. The 29-year-old has played in eight big league games, all of which came last year for San Diego. At five-foot-eleven, 225-pounds, Decker, primarily plays first base but also can play third base, catcher and corner outfield.

This is his fifth straight season in Triple-A and was the first outside of the Padres organization. He was drafted in the 22nd round by the Padres in 2009 out of the University of California, Los Angeles. In Triple-A Decker has hit .257/.337/.506 with 72 home runs and 236 RBI in 406 games at the level.
Decker is known as the “Antihero” and is one of the most popular players in baseball, let alone in the minor leagues. His addition is the latest in what has been a few acquisitions to bring in veterans who are liked across baseball. He also assumes the spot as a right-handed depth bat in the minors, his addition will not affect the Rockies 40-man roster.
