BOULDER – The rout was on right away for the Colorado Buffaloes as they pummeled Idaho State 56-7. With back-to-back blowouts, the Buffs have clearly been inspired to achieve their goals. Evident by the two straight wins, CU is clearly a different team.

Sure, Colorado is vastly more talented than Idaho State but the Buffaloes took care of business and then some. It was such a blowout in fact, that CU actually played their backup kicker for most of the game.

Right away the Buffs were on the board, a 15-yard touchdown from Sefo Liufau to Devin Ross which capped an eight play 77-yard drive. With precision from Phil Lindsay once again to start the game the Buffs would soon make it 14-0.

“We’re coming out of the block so fast which is what we want to do,” Head Coach Mike MacIntyre told postgame. “I really like that we are not lulling.”

It didn’t take Lindsay long to score again as he got in the end zone on the next drive to start the second quarter. After another stout defensive effort, it was Kyle Evans’ turn to quickly plunge into the end zone making it 28-0.

“We hold ourselves to a higher standard,” Said Liufau. “I’m happy overall with the way we’ve been playing and expect that in weeks to come.”

Again, on the next drive, Chris Hill was rewarded with his first touchdown coming on a pass from Liufau on the goal line. Then on the next drive, Liufau ran it himself for 19 yards and the touchdown putting the Buffs up 42-0.

“It’s awesome for everyone in the locker room,” Jay MacIntyre said about the team’s first unit coming off the field before halftime. “A couple guys that always dream about playing got in there.”

Before the end of the half, once again on their next drive Steven Montez led Colorado down the field completing a 69-yard pass to Kabion Ento.

“It’s all I dream about,” Ento replied about his emotions after getting into the end zone twice.

Out of the eight drives the Buffaloes had in the first have seven, including all of the last six drives, resulted in touchdowns. This earned them a 49-0 halftime lead.

Obviously, the game was over at this point but the scoring was not done. Each team scored a touchdown in the second half resulting in a 56-7 final. The last Colorado touchdown was another pass from Montez to Ento.

HIGHLIGHTS

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Jay MacIntyre

Snatching six passes for 76 yards, J-Mac continued the hot start he’s had to his season.

“I thought Jay did well, he’s done an excellent job of fielding punts for us and getting positive yards for us and making good decisions. I’m proud of the way he played, he did a good job.” – Mike MacIntyre

“It was all Idaho state for us, at the end of the day, it’s just us and everyone else on our schedule, if we don’t all play well, then we’re not gonna win. That’s the mindset we’ve had. Coach Mac has been telling us that every day, along with the other coaches. We just wanted to get out there and show what we could do. It doesn’t matter who we play.” – Jay MacIntyre
