Ah yes, it’s November and you can smell it in the air, hot seats and speculation reaching their boiling points. Who will be back and who will not?

With Colorado only having one conference win in the last two years and just two in the three years under Mike MacIntyre, it’s not surprising that Mac has come up in those talks, but today, in an interview with Neill Woelk of CUBuffs.com, Colorado AD Rick George did his best to quell any of that speculation.

“I’ve said it publicly several times: Mike MacIntyre is going to be our coach next year,” George said. “There’s really nothing to discuss. I’ve said it several times, and nothing has changed. People have asked and I’ve said the same thing: Mike’s going to be our coach. Let’s move on to the next topic.”

Now, of course, we’ve all seen the ol’ “vote of confidence” retracted time after time, but for Mike MacIntyre who is trying to recruit a team for the future and certainly plans on being back next year, it is big for him to be able to go into households and get on the phone with Rick George’s blessing in his back pocket. Plus, at this point we have no reason to believe George isn’t telling us the truth.

While it has yet to manifest itself in the win column, a lot has gone right in the Mike MacIntyre era at Colorado, so it shouldn’t come as a shock to most if he gets another chance to truly get this thing turned around next year.

Also in the interview with Woelk, who has been a fantastic addition for the athletic department, George does his best to quell any speculation that he may take the AD opening at his Alma Mater, Illinois.
