A team who starts 6-0 may need to get lucky to find themselves there, but to call a perfect start in the NFL a “fluke” is ridiculous.
Of course, Denver Broncos fans aren’t necessarily satisfied with their team’s 6-0 start due to the offense’s mighty struggles all season long. Their 30th-ranked running game is worrying some folks, while others point to Peyton Manning‘s NFL-leading 10 interceptions as a major question mark.
Ronnie Hillman stood up for his quarterback after the Broncos 26-23 overtime win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday, and apparently Chris Harris Jr. has been hearing the noise, too.
“It’s a huge game,” Harris said of the upcoming Sunday Night matchup against the also undefeated (6-0) Green Bay Packers. “People keep thinking that our team is just a fluke and we haven’t played anybody. It’s a good game to kind of see where we’re at.”
While the Broncos have beaten six teams with a combined record of 10-25 — the Minnesota Vikings at 3-2 the only team over .500 — there are no easy wins in the NFL.
Von Miller isn’t worried about the haters, though, arguing Denver can improve from where they currently stand.
“We’re only six weeks into the season,” Miller told the media Tuesday. “We just got on our bye week. We really haven’t started yet. We’re just now getting underway with everything. The season, it really hasn’t even started yet. We’re just now getting started. I’m okay with where we are on defense, where we are with everything.”
Miller is confident the Broncos are not only talented, but it sounds like he expects them to improve.
Broncos fans aren’t worried about the defensive end, which has a league-leading 26 sacks with 17 forced turnovers, nor are they with the special teams, which has clearly improved this season. Fans are concerned with the offense’s lack of production, which will almost certainly continue to improve as the season moves forward.
Fear not, Broncos Country, this team is a true Super Bowl contender.
