Ah, the ever prevalent conversation about the top cornerbacks in the league. Other than quarterback, it’s the position where we love to discuss who the best is more than any other and it’s always good for solid sound bites.
On Wednesday, Broncos star corner Chris Harris Jr. was asked about Ladanian Tomlinson’s claim earlier in the offseason that there aren’t any shutdown corners in the league, a comment which he takes exception to.
“He’s saying there aren’t any shutdown corners in the league and we go off of touchdowns,” said Harris Jr. “I guarantee if they chart the touchdowns given up in the last five years I’ve given up the least, so that was my argument for him.”
Harris had gone 36 games without giving up a touchdown before, the best receiver in the league, Antonio Brown finally beat him last year.
After addressing Tomlinson’s comments, the Pro-Bowler was asked to give his list of the top-five corners in the league.
“I would say [Richard] Sherman, [Darrelle] Revis, [Patrick Peterson] had a great year, me and Talib,” he told
“No Norman?” A reporter shot back, asking, of course, about Carolina Panthers secondary man, Josh Norman.
“Nah,” Harris answered. “You have to do it more than one year, we’ve got guys that have been doing it for five years, Revis is in year nine or 10 this year, Talib has done it eight years. It’s about being good for a long time, not just one year.”
Surely, the ever-talkative Norman will have something to say about this.
