Colorado State Rams men’s basketball just received Che Bob’s letter of intent, officially making him a new member of the basketball team. Bob was a high priority recruit for Eustachy’s staff, who now have four more scholarships to fill.
Head coach Larry Eustachy and Bob were at CSU’s Green and Gold Game this weekend as reported by BSN.
“Che is a guy that can do everything on the floor and really fits what we do offensively and defensively,” Eustachy said via a release. “Che is a guy that a mismatch on the offensive end and can defensively guard multiple positions. With his length and athleticism, he is an elite-level rebounder and defender. He is an ultra-competitive guy and loves to win.”
Bob was a three-star recruit by ESPN and their 13th ranked player out of the state of North Carolina coming out of high school.
The following is ESPN’s recruiting services scouting report of Bob:
“Strengths:
This is a physical prospect with a heavy dose of athleticism. He closes quickly on the rim and then announces himself with bad intentions; dunks hard. The strength of his game comes off the dribble where he gets a head of steam, has the skill to power or weave and then goes for the homerun play. Also mixes in a pull-up game that is reliable from mid-range.Weaknesses:
His biggest issue will be managing the narrowing gap on a yearly basis and opponents grow and attempt to match his strength and physicality; he’ll always be upper crust but others will narrow gap. Needs to demonstrate more consistency, become a better passer. One of the things holding back is he doesn’t bring it all the time and this could wind up being the deciding factor whether he’s a first tier high major guy or just recruited at that level.Bottom Line:
He’s a reclassed member of the 2014 group so he’s got a leg up physically. Tracking as a high-major player and one of the best collections of physical tools and athletic ability. Want to see him continue on putting up good numbers and winning games.”
The scouting report is from 2014 when Bob was coming out of high school. He’s coming off a successful season with his junior college team at South Plains College, where he averaged 15.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks per game last year in 28 games, starting 11, and playing 19.3 minutes per contest. The potential is all there, and the Rams have their man. And he can play immediately, which is another plus.
Now it’s up to Eustachy and his staff to get the best out of Bob and allow him to develop into his full potential. The real work starts now.
Bob is a 6-foot-5 combo guard who brings toughness to the court with his ability to rebound the ball inside against taller players.
He joins Devocio Butler as the only two newcomers to CSU hoops this fall, at this point.
