UPDATE:

Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez has a bruised right hand, according to the team, and preliminary X-rays for a break came back negative. We do not know at this time if he we need to miss a few games, and surely there are more tests to run.

But this is good news for the Rockies who already have Ian Desmond, David Dahl, Tom Murphy and Jon Gray on the Disabled List especially because it really looked bad on first look.

Below is the original story:

Carlos Gonzalez was removed from Wednesday night’s Colorado Rockies versus Los Angeles Dodgers game after being hit on the hand by a pitch from Clayton Kershaw.

We are uncertain at this time the extent of the injury but CarGo was immediately removed.

Oddly, Gonzalez was charged with a strike on the check swing, which really seemed harsh based on the replays.

Stephen Cardullo came in to pinch-hit for Gonzalez when he likely should have been pinch-running.

We will have more as details emerge and if there need to be any roster moves. If a transaction does need to be made, it’s likely we will see Raimel Tapia rejoin the team for their series against the San Francisco Giants starting on Friday.
