While the bye week was much needed for the team, thank god it’s finally over. Especially given the disaster that is the Denver Broncos (sigh).
On Montez: after rewatching the ASU game, I really noticed how much better his pocket presence and footwork was. If another full week of working on it with Jay improves it even more, he could really start to turn a corner. He can be very frustrating but I think people’s expectations of him are out of wack because of his first start at Oregon. Let’s not forget he was not a highly regarded recruit and more of a diamond in the rough. He has severely outplayed his expectations coming into CU. In my opinion he is near the bottom of the list of concerns for this team and the best quarterback at CU in a long long time.
Looking forward to next year, I’m guessing we will be in the market for a grad transfer QB. Although I’m very excited for Brendon Lewis, the 2020 QB commit. Do yourself a favor and look up his highlights from this past weekend. Ran for over 200 yards, threw for over 300 and had 7 total TDs in a high level Texas football game.
