Easy on the Kool Aide. Let’s focus first on having a top 100 defense first.

You’re talking to a fan base that won a Natty with the triple-option – so we have a bit of an accurate take on it. McCartney wisely chose to switch, and by 1994 (CU’s best team ever) we had moved on.

Your dominoes for how the triple option became abandoned is cute, but not accurate. The poster that called it out as becoming too easy to neutralize was correct. Additionally, football rules began to shift to favor passing around the late 80’s, and football no longer became the “3 yards and a cloud of dust” sport. I appreciate your nostalgia though.

Also, the first read in the triple option (which is too generic, since Wishbone, I-Form, Power-I, Flexbone etc. all work a bit differently) is not the D-End. The first read is the D-Line and MLB alignment. Second read in the most basic form is the option defender (which could be DE, OLB, CB), and the offensive call and defensive alignment determines the option player. RPO stuff of today is very much in the family of the triple option, by way of Chip Kelly, and is a far more difficult defense to defend – because it takes discipline and skill at all three levels of the defense.

It’s pronounced small cap value. These are the best historical long term returns.
Oregon makes enough crap up about themselves without u helping out. They didn’t win any NC’s.

So, 1 last thing about the option. The QB usually gets hurt and season goes down the tubes.

Like I said before, good coaches and good teams don’t run it.

It was great to meet you at the tailgate Saturday. I must say that being a Buffs fan living in Cali, your enthusiasm each pod makes me excited for every game. Thank you. That said, I do have a question about Viska. Have you seen him “drag his head” at all about not bring as involved in the past two games?

If the flex bone was the all that is needed, Air Force would have won a ton more MWC and WAC titles. Even when they had Dee Dowis, who finished in the top 5 in the Heisman and Marty Louthan, they rarely beat BYU. Miami and Fl St of the 80s and 90s would disagree with your opinions as they shut down options teams all the time with speed and talent on the Dline and Lbs. Everybody steals from other schemes and the Air Coryall offense, the run and shoot and air raid have never won a championship. The triple option did when teams like Oklahoma and Texas ran it with the best athletes in the country. Air Force is not in that category.
