In the 40th edition of the BSN Denver Colorado Buffaloes podcast Ryan Koenigsberg, Allie Monroy, Will Whelan and Jake Shapiro discuss all the latest news from the Colorado Buffaloes with a special guest late in the podcast.
Starting the show, the group reviewed Colorado’s bowl-clinching win against the Stanford Cardinal. They talked about Phil Lindsay’s great ground game, the defense’s stellar play, the special teams disaster and more.
The four get into what the Buffs need to do during their bye and review how real their shot is at winning the Pac-12 South.
In the third segment, the group hands out five bye week awards. Reviewing the season, the gave out some obvious hardware but gave credit to people flying under the radar and also had some fun.
Finishing off the show, Allie pits Shap against RK in a headline contest.

Whoever told Shap to say more puns on the podcast is my new least favorite person.
Clutch’s midseason awards:
Offensive MVP: Brian Lindgren
The much-maligned, rarely-heralded co-OC that everyone forgets about is also the QB’s coach and if you can find me a school with a better QB situation than CU right now, I’d like to hear it. The play-calling has been terrific for most of the time, and a lot of the redzone issues have improved.
Defensive MVP: Ahkello Witherspoon
He has the play that flipped the script for the Buffs’ season, and going into the season he was one of the question marks on defense and has since become one of its strengths.
Moment of the Year: Philip Lindsay takes his entire O-Line into the press conference
To me, that moment signifies that this team is playing for each other and playing together, and that is one of the reasons for the success they have found. Also, “Phil’s slow ass finally broke one” is the best press conference quote all season.
Made up award: I want to give the “Least Content Fanbase Award” to the University of Colorado fans who, judging by comments on message boards and twitter, wanted Mike MacIntyre fired and Sefo Liufau benched in 2015 and are now concerned about losing too many coordinators to other coaching jobs and feel disrespected by the lack of NFL attention for Sefo in 2016.
Re: puns
To appropriate a Demitri Martin quote originally about sneezes: Puns are like earrings. Two are ok, but ten in a row are annoying.
