Deion Sanders dismissed three Colorado football players from the team after a Week 3 loss to Northwestern and now those names have been revealed.
Indiana transfer Jah Jah Boyd, James Madison transfer Justin Eaglin and Lamar transfer Paul Omodia are no longer on the Buffs‘ roster.
“It’s a done deal,” a source told The Athletic.
Although none of them played much, each of played defensive back which now leaves Colorado’s secondary a bit thin as injuries begin to pile up. Jah Boyd played the most snaps (61) of the dismissed trio this season with Justin Eaglin (nine snaps) and Paul Omodia (three snaps) appearing only late in games.
Deion Sanders was previously complimentary of Boyd, who had a game-high eight tackles and a forced fumble during a Week 2 win over Weber State.
“Jah Jah is the kind of kid who plays with passion and practices with passion,” Deion Sanders said of Jah Jah Boyd postgame. “Sometimes he goes a little too far but you can count on him to give everything he has. He’s very emotional but he plays with that and I love that about him. I don’t want him to change a thing.”
Jah Jah Boyd played just 13 snaps the next week and although an incident occurred after the Northwestern loss, per source, Coach Prime says the players in question were dismissed as a result of a pattern of behavior detrimental to the team.
“It’s never one (incident),” Deion Sanders said. “The players will tell you that I’m the most loving, giving and forgiving man you could ever meet but when it starts being conduct detrimental to the team, that will set us back. If you don’t care about the team and you just care about you, I have a problem with that.
“A year ago, I didn’t put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit and then it imploded. I’m not doing that (again).”
