DENVER — After an offseason of talk surrounding their program’s suggested revival, the Colorado Buffaloes walked into Friday night’s Rocky Mountain Showdown with plenty to prove.

After three hours of dominating both offensively and defensively, Mike MacIntyre’s team answered as many questions as they possibly could against rival Colorado State, blanking the Rams for much of their 44-7 victory.

From the outset, redshirt junior Phillip Lindsay put his mark on things, accounting for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the first half before seeing Donovan Lee take most of his reps in the second half. Sefo Liufau passed Cody Hawkins for the top spot on Colorado’s all-time passing leaderboard, finishing the night with 318 yards and one touchdown.

The combination of Shay Fields, Bryce Bobo, and Devin Ross proved too much for the inexperienced defensive backfield of Colorado State. On the offensive side of the ball, it was as much of a methodical performance as an explosive one.

Defensively, the front seven of Colorado imposed their will against a Rams offensive line that was touted as one of the best the Buffs will face all season. Colorado State starting quarterback Nick Stevens was pressured early and often, failing to find any kind of rhythm against a stout Colorado secondary, led by Chidobe Awuzie and Tedric Thompson, who each picked off one of his passes.

The win pushed MacIntyre to 3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Showdown and gave the senior quarterback, Liufau, a 2-1 record against the Rams.

Stay tuned for more from the post game locker room and more, as MacIntyre and his team will speak to the media about the win.
