The Denver Broncos brought Joe Ellis, John Elway, Emmanuel Sanders, and DeMarcus Ware out in front of the local media today, during their annual media barbecue.
Denver Broncos president Joe Ellis started off the presser announcing the Broncos new partnership with UC Health. What we used to call Dove Valley is now called the UC Health Training Center. The Broncos announced that they will even be offering services to the public here during special events.
John Elway took the microphone next and told a tent full of media members that it was “Never a thought in his mind” that Peyton Manning and Gary Kubiak wouldn’t work well together. He also told us that Brock Osweiler would be seeing more reps this year as they manage the use of Peyton Manning more carefully than in years past. Elway said, “I think that he realizes where he is, so I think he’s getting a lot better at understanding what his body can and can’t do.”
What’s interesting about this is that coach Gary Kubiak would have nothing but great things to say about Brock Osweiler and the coaching that he’ll receive and at one point even said that it’s now time for the young quarterback to take the next step. It’s safe to say that the Broncos are expecting Brock to be ready when his name is called.
The most interesting thing about Coach Kubiak’s press conference may have been when he named Broncos second year lineman, Kenny Anunike, one of the teams offseason MVP’s. Kubiak said that Anunike is a little light for a 3-4 end but also acknowledged that the young player out of Duke has put some weight on. Kubiak said, “Kenny has probably been one of the standout players throughout our off-season.”
A fresh faced Emmanuel Sanders would be next up. The veteran receiver announced his new found leadership role that he grew into during OTA’s when Demaryius Thomas wasn’t around. He would go on to tell us how he expects Cody Latimer to have a great year. According to Sanders, Cody Latimer has a slight chip on his shoulder after watching others in his draft class shine last year.
Emmanuel Sanders says that Cody Latimer feels like he’s been over looked in comparison to the other receivers in last years draft class.

The bright all-American smile of DeMarcus Ware closed the presser on Thursday. Ware told us that rookie Shane Ray is a great listener. Ware said, “He learns very fast and I talked to him and I said, ‘You have the title of a rookie, but you’re going to have to play this year. You’re going to have to go out there and be effective, no matter if you’re out there for me, or Von.”
Like coach Kubiak, Ware was also impressed with Kenny Anunike in OTA’s saying, “He’s a young guy, hurt his arm last year and he had a whole offseason to really get himself right, and I’ve seen how hungry he was coming into the minicamp.”
Camp officially starts on Friday morning.
