Not only do the refs not know what they’re doing when they make the call but I haven’t seen a single call against an offensive player. It is a very one sided rule and it is just another advantage for the offense.

I would be more ok with the rule if it was an automatic booth review. That way the ref can pick up flag if he gets it wrong. Hard to call this correctly at full speed. Replay would allow them to correct a bad call.

It’s as as VJ made it. We all know what spearing is. If it’s spearing, call it. If lot, let it be. Stop trying to ruin a violent game by turning it into something it’s not. Even rugby isn’t this soft.
