G’day Bucko’s,

With a patched up O-line that is struggling for consistency, shouldn’t Shurmur be dialling up quick passing plays to help Lock get into a rhythm and start the offence rolling? Like a slant, or dare I say a screen pass? How many screen passes has Drew Lock attempted at Denver? He is not being helped by his o-line or coaching at all this season, yes injuries play a part in all this but this is my fear. Drew Lock stays maddeningly streaky, the Jets tank hard and draft Trevor Lawrence, Elway gets a hard on for another Veteran QB and we sign Sam Darnold and have another QB competition on our hands.

Someone please hold me till this nightmare ends.

Geez! At the rate this is going, the next tap on the shoulder that Pat Shurmur feels might be Elway flanked by two security guards carrying moving boxes.

You know the standard joke is that NFL stands for Not For Long, but it could also stand for No F@#*ing Love. Not that I’m coming to his defense.

Thanks for the awesome coverage,

Since we are talking about coaching candidates, Lincoln Riley would easily come to mind, but he would want a HC job, even if he did become an OC, he’d seek a HC job really soon. He would be very intriguing with the pieces on offense but I really doubt he’s brought in by Denver.

I was looking at coaching candidates on an article and good ole’ Rich Scangarello was on the list haha.

Anyways, I am really determined to figure out if Drew is the guy or not because this QB draft class is surely something. Bringing in a veteran quarterback to compete with Drew is boring. I can totally see Elway falling in love with Zach Wilson, big arm, playmaking ability, not small, baseball background (I think?), and very much swagger. However, Drew will probably get a second chance at starter next year even if he continues the way he is playing.

Your Derek Carr conversation really got me thinking… The big question in Denver right now is, who is to blame? Is it Fangio, Shurmur, Lock, fans that are breaking their superstitious rules?

To solve all of this I have come up with a plan. Nothing makes me more nauseous than losing and the civil war that has broken out between fans besides the ever revolving carousel of coaches and QBs. We need stability and need to give these guys time. Fangio has four years, Shurmur three, and Lock three. At the end of this season if Lock hasn’t been dubbed as “The Guy” then we pick up Darnold as you boys proposed. At the end of the 2021-22 season Lock is out of chances if he didn’t beat Darnold. If our QB woes continue after giving Darnold one season, he is out. Shurmer and Fangio will then have one last season to save their jobs in the 2022-23 season. They bring in an established QB, a guy that couldn’t fail unless the coaches absolutely failed him. If we still are in the World of Suck at that point, then you know Fangio and his team aren’t the future. Until then can we calm down and respect the process?

Hey guys!

Out of curiosity, do the weird contractual clauses that are near impossible to achieve incentives, such as a kicker needing to throw 250 yards for an extra 50k, still happen in modern contracts? And if you were the gm, what ridiculous clauses would you sneak into the contracts of the players looking to get paid soon, particularly Phillip Lindsey, Garrett Bolles, Shelby Harris, and Justin Simmons?

Why does The McRib come and go? Is it a supply chain issue ? I can’t imagine that it really creates so much customer excitement when it returns that sales are buoyed? This has always confused me more even than the lack of joy in the Shurmur Offense – It’s Basically a buick lesabre as a carriage for taylor swift. It makes little sense.

Hello Lads!
With the number of season-ending injuries on this Broncos team, should we be concerned with the possibility of them reinjuring themselves next year like Chubb did last year?
A positive spin of the injuries is that a lot of depth pieces are getting a lot of reps that they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise, so this team could be pretty deep going into next year’s campaign, to steal Mase’s word.
Last question: I am looking to get an orange Broncos jersey, and would love it to be Phil. I’m a little apprehensive though since his future is uncertain. Thoughts?
Thanks for all you do, gents!

Hey guys,

From BSN to DNVR, and it keeps expanding. So many pods, covering so many sports, but is there one ‘sport’ missing? I’d say probably my No 2 Sport is missing from the list, and no, it’s not Cricket ?

I was thinking that maybe there aren’t many fans of this type of sport in Colorado, and I quickly remembered that you have one of the most famous sporting venues in the world, albeit a little bit unusual, that pretty much most fans of this type of sport will know about, and will more than likely be on their bucket list to visit, like it is on mine.

So then, quiz time, Zac, Mase, RK, you got it yet? What/where is this venue, and what is this section of sport we are sort of missing coverage for?

Ok, I’m sure you guys will have it by now….

….so what is the Motorsport scene like in Colorado? Pikes Peak aside, I don’t know of any famous circuits in CO. If anyone wants to chat motorsport, preferably 4 wheels over 2, then send me a message on Discord! Would love to chat about IndyCar and NASCAR with some American fans. Already found a fellow DNVR Listener who is an F1 Fan, so if there is more out there, give me a shout!

Peace out and love to all, and so sorry for this seemingly random tangent

Hey gang.
I’m back after reading some of your articles. I just wanted to bring up how refreshing it is to hear Drew’s answers in post-game and weekly interviews. On national sports shows they share clips of what other QBs say, and it’s always “I gotta be better, get in the lab, watch the film, I just gotta be better.” Blah, blah, blah. Drew usually has really well thought out answers in his interviews, and I love hearing that. Some of his comments even inspire me, and I’m sure as heck not on the team!

Greetings Gents,
The conversation about having Derek Carr’s career for drew lock I found to be quite intriguing. I would agree with everything you guys said and I would be completely satisfied with that. An MVP caliber season and someone who can consistently keep his team relevant. I would pose this question though for you guys. Would you take Matt Stafford’s Career for Drew Lock?

I’m a little tired of people comparing Lock to Herbert.

The Broncos have not been in a good position to draft a top quarterback in any recent draft. Lock looks like the best prospect other than Murray in the 2019 draft, and Elway got him for a steal. Yes, the Chargers got Herbert in 2020 because they were a bad enough team to be in position to get him. He went early in the first around because he was a far more developed prospect.

Lock has always been more raw. He was a quarterback with the clear physical ability to make all the throws but hadn’t demonstrated consistency in foot work, accuracy, etc. The bet on Lock was that with good coaching, he could develop in the areas where he was lacking. Then with his natural leadership skills and raw physical ability, he’d wind up being a good quarterback.

We can’t make this comparison with any honesty until we’re another season or two into their careers. Does lock develop in his ability to read the field and make accurate throws? Does Herbert develop the leadership skills to get his team through tough games?
